The British Museum

Went to the British Museum today . I love museums ! :D

As usual it was freezing cold today , in fact it's colder than usual , it was -3 degrees Celsius last night . However , my love for all things touristy forced me to brave the cold and head to the museum .

Photobucket
The entrance . Just looking at it made me get all happy and excited .

Photobucket
The main hall . The picture doesn't do it any justice .

Photobucket
Scales ( I think ..)Mama , remember this ?? Kong Kong had something exactly like this ! :D .

Photobucket
Figurines of animals that the ancient Greeks used to sacrifice to the gods. The pig looks funny doesn't it ? His butt is weird ..

Photobucket
Woman with no arms baking while her friend ( who has arms .. hehehe) grinds wheat

Photobucket
Pieces of what was once a statute of the sphinx.

Legend has it that the Sphinx was a half lion half woman that would ask you a riddle when you came across her , you'd have to answer her riddle and she'd attack you if you got it wrong .

Photobucket
A lead sarcophagus

Photobucket
A child's sarcophagus

Photobucket
Dionysos , the god of wine . Dancing with his panther .

I don't know why , but I found this picture to be ridiculously funny and couldn't stop laughing when I first saw it . A naked man dancing with a panther . Funny lah !

Photobucket
Julius Caesar , with half his head gone .

Photobucket
I forgot who these people are , a wealthy and influential family I think . The only reason I took this picture is because I thought it was rather funny that they all seemed to have lost their noses .

Photobucket
A samurai's armour

Photobucket
Buddha with no hands .

Photobucket
Hahahaha .. Saw this at the foot of the Buddha statue

Photobucket
Massive bronze bells

Photobucket
Found this to be rather interesting . It was part of an exhibition called 'Dying and Living' . It's supposedly a mask . I was rather amazed at their ability to create something so incredibly lifelike.

Photobucket
I'm not entirely sure what these are . Decorations for halloween maybe

Photobucket
Replica of an ancient Grecian temple . Very nice.

Photobucket
A giant foot . I have no idea what happened to the giant statute.

Photobucket
Photobucket
Room full of Parthenon sculptures. Beautifully done , I couldn't really appreciate it though as it all looked more or less the same to me .

Photobucket
Poor piggy lost his leg .

Oh how I wish the our National Museum was like this . I'd go visit it so very often if it were .

The reason that there aren't any pictures of me is that I tend to go sightseeing alone . Also , I don't feel comfortable with giving my camera to random strangers as asking them to take photos of me :)
